Comodo SSL Certificate FAQs

What is the difference between "Domain", "Organization" and "Extended" validation?
Domain validation only verifies that the certificate applicant is one of the administrative contacts for the domain; Organization validation involves more rigorous checks on the organization itself; Extended validation is extremely comprehensive, and is the only validation that potentially allows for enhanced site / entity identification in your customers' browsers.

What does "Subdomains Secured" mean?
An SSL certificate generally only covers one hostname / subdomain. For example a certificate covering www.yourdomain.com will not also cover store.yourdomain.com and vice-versa. Wildcard SSL certificates cover multiple subdomains within one domain.

What does "Browser Lock Icon" mean?
When your visitors are browsing secured pages at your website, they will see the small padlock icon in their browser to show that they are on a secure page.

What does "Server Gated Crypto"mean?
SGC allows users of legacy browsers and operating systems to still benefit from 128 Bit or 256 Bit encryption during SSL protected sessions. If you need it you probably already know this, so don't worry about it!
